Adit Fracture is a sculptural light critiquing the mining industry's depletion of resources and destruction of land. Light filters through the translucent Alabaster, destroyed yet still smooth, to ease sore eyes. Simultaneously, light bounces off of the darker Soapstone, providing indirect light to a room. The plywood structure supporting the rock is cut into tiered formation, mirroring the shapes in which mines are cut into during extraction. The piece evokes political analysis of extractive processes, yet functions as a lumina to brighten the corner of a room, or a natural history museum.
