KnitLume is an experimental and refined piece of light fixture made of both soft and hard materials. I was inspired by the concept of combining elements of industrial strength with the flexibility and stretchability of fabric and the spirit of organic architecture. At the same time, I was inspired by programming languages and environments like Rhino's Grasshopper visualization, like joining between points through arithmetic, further expanding the design possibilities. Drawing inspiration from the act of weaving and the sculptural forms of organic architecture, | conceived a lighting design that skillfully incorporates bent metal rods and stretched knitted fabrics into a free-flowing, multi-faceted curvilinear structure. At the same time by using LED bulbs in transparent housings, it is possible to evoke a feeling of warmth and softness, which is of course enhanced by the interaction between the light and the fabric. Additionally, my choice of gradient colors, transitioning from green to pink and vice versa, aims to neutralize the excessive tension inherent in the work while giving it a dynamic energy that ultimately transforms the space into a dreamy mesmerizing visual experience.
