In shared spaces, light often dictates our daily rhythms in ways that feel abrupt or misaligned—one person turning on the lights too soon, another struggling to sleep while a bedside lamp stays on. As a result, we come to dread these moments, shielding our eyes when a light flips on or resorting to harshly directed beams for isolated control. Flux transforms these forced transitions—between darkness and light, solitude and togetherness, wakefulness and rest—into something gentle, natural, and personal. It offers a soft approach to differing light needs, layering colors and textures to welcome each phase of light without rushing or concealing it. By lingering in transition, it allows people to engage with light at their own pace, celebrating rather than resisting moments of change. -The vertical light is stationary yet invites active engagement, reimagining ambient light transitions. Darkest at eye level, stitched pathways guide the eye downward while softly illuminating the space. -The horizontal light responds to touch, offering gentle transitions overall or focused lighting on individual sides. Sliding the fabric across the beam adjusts the density of folds, altering how light diffuses. -Finally, the small light provides personal task lighting, creating a gentle glow that supports localized focus without disrupting the surrounding space.
