This project highlights the correlation between the increase of light pollution over time and the decrease in the visibility of the night sky and its celestial bodies. Focusing on the New York tri-state area, this projection box simulates the view of the naked night sky, which is obstructed by the hotspots of the highest magnitudes of light pollution -like New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore- and becomes barely visible, leaving only slivers of what the night truly looks like. Users can interact with the piece to explore how light pollution has changed from the past to the present and what will inevitably be the future.
