Luminous Solidarity is a lighting installation that celebrates the power of collective action in Korean protests against former presidents, reflecting the deep organization and unity of the people. Inspired by traditional Korean lanterns, the design embraces not only their historical significance but also their structured, aligned arrangement—an element that mirrors the remarkable coordination of Korean demonstrations. The installation integrates candle wax as an interactive element, allowing individuals to engage with the candle and symbolically partake in the historic act of protest illumination. Additionally, it serves as a candle repository, ensuring that if the need for protest arises again, participants can retrieve and use them as tools of peaceful resistance. While modern LEDs have improved efficiency, they often introduce visual discomfort through glare, flicker, and spectral imbalances. This project addresses such concerns by prioritizing viewer comfort while preserving the emotional and functional significance of light. Luminous Solidarity merges historical symbolism with contemporary concerns, offering both a visually soothing experience and a lasting tribute to the strength of organized collective action.
