As children, many of us faced the fear of monsters in the closet or under our beds. The feeling that something is watching and waiting to take you away. While many of us grow out of this seemingly simple fear we begin to face real monsters, hurdles that life will inevitably throw our way. It’s not always as easy as having a nightlight at the ready. These types of monsters lurk and follow until they make people feel small and helpless. But, when people take the time to shine a light on their monsters, the monsters are the ones that are small, and facing them doesn’t seem so daunting anymore. “Bedtime Stories” explores how we are connected to each other through our individual struggles. Everyone has their monsters and it’s not that we always need to know what they are; it’s that we need to understand the fact that they exist for each individual. The shadow is cast with a red light for it represents love and fear. The warm glow of the lamp dilutes the monster so we can see just how much smaller it really is; how conquering hardships can be easier than it may seem in the grand scheme of life.
