"Memory Gap" explores the emotional resonance of nostalgia. My experiences as an international student living away from home in a shared environment among the sounds and interplay of the people around me - light, shadow, and distant sounds permeate my locked door, and evoke a deep sense of longing and connection. Inspired by old motion pictures, Memory Gap invites viewers to rediscover their childhood innocence and curiosity. With subtle reminders of youth nestled within, I aim to foster empathy and shared experience, transcending physical distance and reminding us of our interconnectedness through the universal language of nostalgia. The gentle glow of light seeping through the gap in the door triggers curiosity, inviting observers to think about what secrets might be hiding behind those walls. With the ambient sounds and playful dancing shadows, this curiosity is heightened, immersing the observer in a world of intrigue. Toys placed in the area bring back cherished memories of youth, adding to the nostalgic ambiance. As the shadows move and dance, they playfully invite the audience to look inside the gap, encouraging them to rediscover the youthful magic hidden within.
