Light is constant; it is always present. Everywhere we go, there will always be light even though it may be hidden behind darkness, or so we like to believe. We choose to trust in its consistency and its ability to be present in the unknown because of the comfort and safety it provides. Even when immediate surroundings are dark, we know light is present somewhere, could be as small as a night light or as big as on the other side of the world. In this fixture, I wanted to have a singular light source, reflecting upwards and downwards, present with shadows that affect its brightness and glow, highlighting that light could sometimes be obstructed. By staring at the light, you can see different areas that are brighter or darker questioning the safety we feel when light is not present.
