SHEETS is made out of actual sheets of spring roll rice paper. The piece is an exploration of our relationship to inanimate objects. How do personal objects come to mean so much to us? How are our emotions and memories wrapped into something so simple? Can each of our own individual memories culminate into one shared experience? The spring roll rice paper sheets are able to change form easily, and will eventually decompose. The sheets layer to form a symbolic representation of an actual bed, an object which can take on many forms and be deeply personal. The material itself raises questions about the lifespan of an object and how each of our own emotions and memories change overtime. The light illuminates the surface of the rice paper sheets, bringing life, personality, and delicacy to the piece and its surroundings.
