Endosymbiosis refers to the theory of organisms living together within one another. The theory states that cells grow and advance by enveloping other preexisting cells. My project aims to capture this scientific process on a large scale, relating more to our experiences as humans on Earth. With our world falling deeper into screens and farther away from the natural outdoors I attempt to help bring us closer together. Not only as humans but in terms of all life on Earth. The materials used in this project are all-natural. The scavenged sticks and leaves are woven to mimic the veins and capillaries within our bodies. I wanted my form to feel familiar but also not specific to human beings. Having actual plants and branches under the outer skin invites the viewer to a different perspective of how life on Earth generally operates. The vague aliveness is intended to transcend all life on Earth whether that be microorganisms, mammals, plants, or anything else. We are simply a small part of all life on our planet. We coexist with so many plants and animals every day. Our planet is one huge endosymbiotic organism.
