My design takes inspiration from the annual ring in the natural world. The design features layers of curves and crevices that wrap around a light source and create circular patterns of shadows and light when illuminated. As you approach the design, you?ll notice the intricate details and textures of the curves, which add depth and complexity to the piece. The use of these organic shapes and textures in the design aims to explore the interplay between light, shadow, and form in a way that evokes the patterns found in nature, also suggesting a connection to the circulation in the natural world and highlighting the beauty and complexity of the circular patterns in it. If you rotate the wooden outer layer, it will revolve around the light, causing the shadow also change its form in the rotation. And the intricate patterns created by the gaps between each layer will also intertwine and morph into variational forms through the movement.
